The Passion Play, Oberammergau
The Oberammergau Passion Plays are a series of
powerful and inspirational performances that occur every ten years
that pay tribute to the suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus
Christ. The play's origins date back to 1633 when the people of
Oberammergau found themselves under threat from the Bubonic plague
- the town pledged that if God were to spare them, they would
perform a play each decade to celebrate the life and death of
Jesus. Since the plays first started in 1634, they've grown in
scale with over 2000 of the village residents now working together
to ensure the spectacle honours the vow of their ancestors. You can
experience this rare opportunity to witness the spectacle of the
Passion Play for yourself on this fabulous 9 day package that
