Suffolk & Constable Country

The gentle landscapes and the particularly clear light of East Anglia has long attracted and inspired artists with Constable and Gainsborough being the most famous. This tour takes in some of the area's finest scenery, country houses and gardens. Constable country is located on the Suffolk and Essex border and was the birthplace of the famous artist John Constable. We visit Dedham, where he attended school, and Flatford Mill which features in several of Constables famous paintings. Our base will be in the market town of Sudbury, home to Thomas Gainsborough who also painted much of the surrounding countryside. His house is now a museum where you can view a selection of his paintings, drawings and etchings from throughout his life.
