Dublin - Weekend breaks 2008

Those energetic Vikings, for instance, brought to the region periodic invasions, opened trade routes and named the settlement "Dark Pool" which in Gaelic became Dubh Lin. This beautiful Irish capital has a lot to offer. There is a sense of energy and excitement in Dublin that is not felt in other European capitals. Dublin is a perfect all year round destination. There is always something to do, something to see and someone to talk to.The friendly atmosphere in the city means guests always feel at home. Christmas Shopping
If you are going to Dublin in November or December, don't forget the fantastic opportunities for Christmas shopping. There are the superb and varied department stores of Grafton Street and the St. Stephen's Green Shopping Centre. Just out of town at Lucan, there is the new Liffey Valley Shopping Centre with over 90 outlet stores.

Nightlife
In the evenings, simply head for the Temple Bar area for the very best 'craic' with music, dancing and Guinness in equal measures! There are plenty of pubs, clubs and bars. The pub food in Ireland is second to none!

Malahide Castle
Malahide Castle is a beautifully restored residence with distinctive elegance and charm. The extensive grounds of the Malahide Castle Demense are also home to the delightful Fry Model Railway and the Talbot Botanic Gardens, great for a half-day visit. Malahide Castle is also the home to Tara's Palace, one of the world's most significant Dolls Houses. Inspired by Sir Neville Wilkinson's celebrated Titania's Palace of 1907, Ron and Doreen McDonnell sought to recapture the spirit and purpose of Sir Neville, when they began the creation of their own masterpiece -Tara's Palace in 1980.

Zozimus Experience
Why not try the Zozimus Experience; an exciting mix of a theatrical walking tour, street theatre, ghost tour and much more. The Zozimus ghost will guide you through Dublin, and you'll meet some colourful characters along the way.

Guinness Storehouse
