You will always be assured of a warm, friendly welcome in Yorkshire
Day 1 – We depart our local area for Harrogate with an en route stop at a National Trust property of your choice. Dinner this evening at the hotel.
Day 2 – After breakfast we travel to nearby Fountains Abbey and Studley Water Garden (NT). From humble beginnings in 1132 the monks left behind what are now the most complete Cistercian remains in the country. John Aislabie inherited Studley Royal and set about creating an elegant water garden of mirror-like ponds and statues. In the afternoon we travel to Ripon for some time at leisure. Day 3 – Full day at leisure in York. Dinner at the hotel
Walking tours and entrances to many of York’s attractions can be arranged.
Day 4 – A morning at leisure in Harrogate; famed for its historic buildings and natural springs that are said to have health properties. The Royal Pump Room Museum tells the history of England’s premier spa town. In the afternoon we visit Harewood house, one of the Treasure Houses of England was built in the 18th century, and the art collections on display here rival the finest in the land. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 5 – We say farewell to Harrogate for our journey home, visiting the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Set in the parkland of Bretton Hall, this open-air gallery shows work by UK and international artists, including Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth. We also may have time to take in another stop of interest before arriving home.
