Suffolk was the birthplace and home of the painter John Constable, renowned for his depiction of beautiful Suffolk skies in all weathers. The region’s countryside offers miles of unspoilt landscapes and its renowned market towns and villages are located within historic and relaxing settings for strolls, coffee and lunch breaks. Savour incredible local food and drink with a wonderful range of mouthwatering menus. In Suffolk, tourism is all about fun, indulgence and creating experiences to remember.
We depart from our selected pick up points and make our way to Colchester and our hotel. On arrival our luggage is taken to our rooms as we enjoy a welcome tea or coffee.
After a leisurely breakfast we make our way to Colchester, the oldest recorded town in Britain. Here we meet our guide for a walking tour followed by time at leisure to explore. We then make our way back to the hotel where there will be time to relax prior to evening meal.
Today we have a guided tour of Constable country, so named because this was the birthplace of John Constable the renowned artist known for his landscapes paintings of Dedham Vale. Our tour will take in sights such as East Bergholt, Flatford Mill and Dedham Vale. This afternoon we continue with a scenic drive through the countryside to Lavenham with its half timbered buildings and crooked house before returning to our hotel.
After breakfast we make our way to Sudbury, birthplace of Gainsborough for a little sightseeing before returning to Colchester for an included lunch at Dedham Vale Vineyard. We then enjoy a short informative video before we tour the vines, winery and cellar, ending with actually tasting the wine. We then return to our hotel where there will be time to relax before dinner this evening.
This morning we check out of our hotel and begin our journey back home.
