Potsdam
Home to the wonderful Sanssouci Palace and the historic Cecilienhof Palace. Sanssouci is the former summer pleasure retreat of Frederick the Great. Surrounded by incredible gardens, it rivals Versailles for its beauty and grandeur, with many rooms and galleries packed with precious works of art. Cecilienhof Palace was built in 1917 in a Tudor style, and witnessed world history when Churchill, Truman and Stalin met in the venerable halls for the Potsdam Conference in 1945.
Gemäldegalerie
Berlin’s Gemäldegalerie (Picture Gallery) is also known as the Old Masters Museum, and forms one of the world’s most impressive collections of European painting. An astonishing range of European art is exhibited from the 13th to the 18th centuries, including pieces by Botticelli, Dürer, Rembrandt, Rubens and Titian.
Jewish Museum
This thought-provoking museum displays two millennia of German-Jewish history and is also one of the most striking examples of contemporary architecture in Berlin.
