Art on The Cote D'Azur & Provence

Arles is a city of Roman ruins, medieval heritage and Van Gogh connections. The centrepiece of the city is the two-tiered Roman amphiteatre, from which there are wonderful views. Why not follow in the footsteps of Vincent Van Gogh to see some of the scenes he painted and visit the Fondation Van Gogh Museum & Musee Reattu, which is home to works by Arles-born Jacques Reattu, drawings by Picasso, sculptures and a large collection of photographs.

The Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild is a magnificent palace surrounded by 9 thematic gardens. The villa is furnished as the Baroness left it in 1934, with priceless collections, beautiful Belle Epoque interiors, and items that belonged to Marie Antoinette. The lovely grounds are on a promontory surrounded by the azure blue sea of the Mediterranean.

Set in the Grimaldi Castle in Antibes, where Picasso once had a studio, this museum highlights vibrant works from his 1946 stay including Le Joie de Vivre and La Femmes aux Oursins, plus ceramics and sculptures alongside modern art by the likes of Germiane Richer .

This modern art museum, located in Saint-Paul de Vence, was founded in 1964 by Aimé and Marguerite Maeght and showcases works of art by renowned 20th-century artists including Alberto Giacometti, Wassily Kandinsky, Joan Miro, Barbara Hepworth and Alexander Calder.

This museum holds a signification collection of Old Masters as well as a substantial Cezanne collection and 20th C modern art. It also has sculpture & archaeological rooms. Something for everyone.

This bustling city was once the capital of Provence and boasts picturesque tree-lined avenues, 17th and 18th-century buildings, a wonderful old town and colourful market. Also the home of Paul Cezanne, visit the streets, places and landscapes that influenced his life and painting.

Nice has a vibrant Old Town with winding streets, colourful architecture, local shops & above all, lively markets. Most well-known is the fragrant Flower Market. Take a stroll along the famous Promenade des Anglais, known as the heart of the city, for beautiful views.
