Gardens of Kent & East Sussex

England

Stunning houses, spectacular gardens and sea air

Rolling hills meet dramatic cliffs in Kent, the garden of England. Orchards and vineyards heavy with plump fruit demonstrate the fecundity of the land, which is dotted with elegant stately homes, carefully manicured grounds and intimate walled gardens. Where the fertile landscapes of Kent and East Sussex meet the sea, towering chalk descends into beautiful stretches of beach. Lovely seaside resorts or ancient, historic towns provide a perfect base for exploration.

The extensive gardens surrounding the property were developed during the 20th century, and are designed to be fluid with a rich assortment of plants.

Walmer Castle Gardens

The award-winning gardens surrounding the impressive Tudor fortress at Walmer are particularly special thanks to their magnificent sea views. Enjoy a stroll along the yew-lined Broadwalk, centrepiece of Walmer’s pleasure grounds, or contemplate the serene waters & elegant pavilion of the Queen Mother’s Garden.

Sissinghurst Castle Garden (NT)

The jewel in the crown of Kent’s gardens, Sissinghurst epitomises the English garden and presents an enviable colour palette throughout. Created by writer Vita Sackville-West in the 1930s, these poetic and romantic gardens provide an abundantly beautiful backdrop to the red brick buildings, Elizabethan tower and ancient woodland beyond.
