Buckler's Hard
This historic shipbuilding village is situated in the heart of the New Forest on the banks of the pretty River Beaulieu. The reconstructed village dates back to the 18th century, and you can discover more about its maritime heritage in the museum.
The New Forest
You’ll be captivated by the heavenly contrast of colours that the New Forest offers, from the purple hues of the wild heathland, to the verdant emerald of the lush woodland. You’ll enjoy spotting the free-roaming ponies, donkeys and cows amongst the landscape. There are plenty of pretty towns and villages to explore throughout the glorious countryside which extends all the way to the scenic south coast.
Winchester
A handsome, ancient city with strong regal links including the reigns of Alfred the Great, William the Conqueror, and King Arthur of the Round Table. Soak up the superb Elizabethan and Regency architecture that lines the charming cobbled streets and take in the splendour of the Gothic cathedral, which is one of the largest in Europe.
Mid Hants Railway
This railway route is often referred to as the ‘Watercress Line’ due to its history of transporting watercress from the beds in Alresford all the way to London. Take a relaxing journey on this beautifully restored steam train running through 10 miles of stunning scenery, enjoying the excitement of this nostalgic mode of transport.
Hospital of St Cross
The Hospital of St Cross in Winchester is one of the oldest and best preserved almshouses in England. Situated on the banks of the River Itchen, it is a Grade-I listed building dating back to medieval times.
Mottisfont (NT)
Originally an abbey, this 18th century National Trust house is set in beautiful grounds and gardens. The house is a must-see for art enthusiasts, containing an exquisite drawing-room painted by Rex Whistler and a permanent 20th century art exhibition in the gallery. Amongst the romantic gardens that showcase year-round beauty and colour, the world-famous rose collection is not to be missed.
Bombay Sapphire Distillery
Visit the striking distillery at Laverstoke Mill and discover the exotic botanicals that create the taste of this distinctive gin.
