Klosters
Nestled in an Alpine valley, the picturesque village of Klosters is a favourite of the British Royals. Backed by mountain views, this idyllic village resort is clustered with chalets and surrounded by meadows, so it’s postcard-perfect whether dusted with snow or speckled with flowers.
Chur
The lovely city of Chur is beautifully historic and encircled by the Alps. It’s also the oldest city in Switzerland; a settlement has been here for over 5,000 years, so it has a fascinating history. Chur’s pedestrianised Old Town is a maze of winding alleys interspersed with quaint churches, independent boutiques and charming restaurants. Its cathedral dates back to the 12th century.
Albula Railway
The Albula Railway Museum in Bergün traces the pioneering history of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. The museum enthrals its visitors with fascinating exhibitions on the engineering achievements of this spectacular route and its legendary ‘crocodile’ locomotives. Following this, experience the magnificence of the Albula Line on a journey from Bergün to St Moritz – which cuts through mountains, glides over viaducts and climbs over 1,000 metres in this incredible terrain.
St Moritz
The luxe spa town of St Moritz has beauty and glamour in equal measure. Deep green forests and mountain vistas surround this pretty town and its sparkling lake. An Alpine wonderland in the winter and a sunny paradise in summer, it’s often frequented by the rich and famous.
Bernina Express
Board the Bernina Express in Klosters to experience a wonderful journey on the highest transalpine railway in Europe. This unique route swoops though truly impressive natural surroundings, from glittering glaciers and incredible bridges to balmy and palm-dotted countryside. After enjoying the stunning scenery on this relaxing trip, alight in Tirano, a pretty and historic town at the floor of a valley lined with vineyards which is found across the border in Italy.
