The village has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site thanks to its immaculately preserved industrial heritage.
Perhaps most famous for its role in the 1970 film version of Edith Nesbit's story The Railway Children, the 5 mile-long Keighley & Worth Valley Railway runs from Keighley to Oxenhope through beautiful Brontë country.

The charming cathedral city of Ripon is an unspoilt gem by the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. The Gothic structure of Ripon Cathedral has an impressive history dating back to the 7th century, and the Saxon crypt from this era still survives today. Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden (NT) are a designated World Heritage Site. The imposing ruins of Fountains Abbey show the magnificence of the structure, which was established by devout monks seeking a simpler existence. The elegant Georgian water garden that surrounds the ruins was created by John Aislabie in the 18th century, and incorporates classical statues, follies, and breathtaking vistas.
Set in the parkland of Bretton Hall, the Yorkshire Sculpture Park is an open-air gallery that shows work by UK and international artists, including Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth. The renowned collection of contemporary pieces is beautifully offset by the historic estate, presenting an innovative display of ‘art without walls’.
