Venice’s main basilica is a beautiful piece of Byzantine architecture, rich with artwork from world-famous artists. This captivating Venetian lagoon island is awash with a rainbow of houses – it is said that the colourful dwellings were to help guide fishermen returning home through the misty lagoon. Burano’s charms include its exquisite handmade lace and the leaning bell tower.
