Known as the Riviera del Fiori – or Riviera of Flowers – the Italian Riviera shares the climate, beauty, charm and sophistication of the neighbouring French Riviera but with an Italian twist. Beautiful mountains clad with olive groves and vineyards slope down to an azure seas, a drive along the coast reveals hilltop medieval towns and cliffs that drop down to colourful fishing villages. Situated just an hour and a half drive from Nice, Diano Marina is a beautiful resort on this stunning coastline. Its wide promenade runs the full length of the bay with plenty of cafes and shops to explore. At the eastern end of the town is Cervo, a pretty little hilltop village, typical of so many in this area, with narrow cobbled streets, a beautiful church and an olive oil press.
Day 1 – Our flight departs from the UK. Upon arrival we will be met and transferred to Diano Marina, where we check in to the Hotel.
Day 2 – A day out visiting the most fashionable and stylish resorts of the Italian Riviera! We travel to the attractive palm lined resort of Santa Margherita and from here you’ll enjoy a relaxing boat ride along the coast, around the headland and into the chic and famous resort of Portofino. Set in an incredibly scenic enclave, this internationally renowned gem regularly entertains the world’s jet set.
Day 3 – Today we visit Ventimiglia & San Remo. Located on the western border of Liguria, this city has had a complex history. Considerable Roman remains are visible near the mouth of the Nervia River and the medieval town is perched on a rocky spur to the west. The territory of Ventimiglia offer fine scenery, a mild climate and established gardens well worth a visit. San Remo is known as Italy’s own Monte Carlo, a sun dappled resort with a clutch of ostentatious villas and plenty of Riviera style grandeur.
Day 4 – Today we enjoy a day at leisure in Diano Marina. Stroll along the lovely promenade, sip a cappuccino in one of the many cafes, or browse the shops for some ‘Italian style’ to take home.
Day 5 – Today we cross the border into France to visit the charming hilltop town of Eze, with its wonderful views across the Mediterranean, whilst here we have a tour of Fragonard Perfume factory. From Eze we continue to the principality of Monaco. This is the world’s most densely populated sovereign country and its high-rise apartment blocks and harbour full of yachts are an impressive sight. The magnificent casino dominates the central square and Formula 1 enthusiasts will recognise the twists and turns of the famous city circuit. Others will admire the opulent shops, exclusive restaurants and exotic gardens of one of the world’s most expensive countries.
Day 6 – Having experienced some of the best that Italy and France has to offer, we sadly head for the airport for our flight back to the UK.
