Our flight departs UK airport. Upon arrival in Bucharest we meet our English speaking guide and transfer to our hotel.
Today we enjoy a full day tour of Bucharest, once called the “Little Paris of the East”. During the tour, we will visit the Parliament Palace, the second largest building in the world after the Pentagon. We will also see the Revolution Square, the Romanian Athenaeum, the National Art Museum, the Arch of Triumph, the old city centre of Bucharest and other important city landmarks.
Today following check out, we depart for Bran to visit the castle made famous by Bram Stoker’s novel as the residence of the vampire count, Dracula. We continue to Brasov, the beautiful fairy tale town founded in the 12th century by the Saxon settlers.
Today we enjoy a city tour of Brasov, a beautiful city which still preserves its medieval atmosphere. During the tour, we will see St Nicholas Church and the famous Black Church (outside view only, closed on Mondays), the largest Gothic style church in South-Eastern Europe. We will also enjoy a visit to the First Romanian School, which hosts an impressive collection of rare books.
Todays day of leisure will give us the chance to explore the city on our own or even take a trip to the famous Poiana Brasov mountain resort which is located only 15 km away from Brasov.
Today we journey to stunning Sighisoara, one of the best preserved medieval citadel in this part of Europe and also part of the UNESCO World Heritage List. We will enjoy a walk through the cobbled streets of the old citadel. We will also see the house where the infamous Vlad the Impaler was born and the beautiful Clock Tower.
Today we visit Sibiu, the European Capital of Culture in 2007. We enjoy a walking tour of the city including the Large Square, the Huet Square, the Brukenthal Museum, the Liars’ Bridge and other important city landmarks. After the tour, we will proceed to Sibiel, a small village close to Sibiu, for a hearty lunch with Romanian brandy included in a traditional local farmhouse.
We sadly checkout and depart Brasov and travel to Sinaia, one of the most beautiful mountain resorts in Romania, known as the “Pearl of the Carpathians” .
