The magnificent Chatsworth House is a palatial home in the heart of the Peak District, which dates back to the 16th century. Today, the lavishly adorned interiors house a significant collection of art and treasures that span more than 4,000 years: from ancient Egyptian sculptures and pieces by Reynolds and Rembrandt, to contemporary portraits by Lucian Freud. Don’t miss the incredible gardens – cultivated over centuries, they contain sculptures, a rock garden and a maze.
This fine, fortified medieval manor house enjoys uninterrupted views of the beautiful Peak District countryside. Parts of the house date back to the 12th century, and the property is surrounded by stunning terraced gardens bursting with rose blooms. The village of Castleton lies in the lee of the mysterious Mam Tor and sits by the enormous Peak Cavern. It’s known as the home of the unique semi-precious stone Blue John, a lovely gem with bands of blueish-violet that can only be found in the Peak District. Ladybower Reservoir sits amongst the stunning scenery of the area, with wonderful views of the woodlands, water and moorland.
Weston Park Museum is located within an elegant Grade II-listed building in Sheffield. The fascinating exhibitions tell the story of this industrial city, from the geological roots of its pre-history to the people, politics and music that have shaped the modern and vibrant city that Sheffield has become.
The thermal spa town of Buxton is the gateway to the Peak District, renowned for its fine Georgian and Victorian architecture. With galleries, gardens, an Edwardian opera house and independent shops, it's also something of a cultural hub.
Hardwick Hall is an Elizabethan masterpiece created by Bess of Hardwick in the 16th century. This honey-hued hall sits amongst picturesque landscapes ripe for exploring, and is filled with centuries of craftsmanship.
